Key Highlights of the Dallul Experience
What sets Dallul East African Cuisine apart in the bustling Dallas dining scene? It is the combination of authentic preparation, welcoming atmosphere, and commitment to quality that defines our establishment. Here are a few aspects that make a visit to 13021 Coit Rd a must-try experience:
Authentic Injera Preparation: The foundation of any great East African meal is the injera. We take immense pride in our traditional fermentation process, resulting in injera that is perfectly textured—soft, slightly tangy, and ideal for scooping up our flavorful stews and sautés. This staple bread is central to the communal and tactile nature of our dining experience.
Rich and Aromatic Stews (Wats): Our selection of wats showcases the depth of East African spicing. From slow-simmered beef and lamb dishes seasoned with berbere to milder, turmeric-infused chicken preparations, each stew offers a unique profile. We also feature extensive vegetarian and vegan options, highlighting pulses and greens cooked with incredible care and flavor layering.
Communal Dining Focus: Dining at Dallul is inherently social. We encourage guests to share platters, fostering conversation and connection over the meal. This style of eating is deeply rooted in the culture, turning a simple dinner into a shared event where everyone partakes from the same central dish.
Commitment to Freshness: Every component of your meal, from the freshly ground spices to the locally sourced vegetables when possible, is handled with respect for quality. We strive to maintain the integrity of traditional recipes while ensuring the freshest possible ingredients make it to your table, providing a clean, vibrant taste profile.
We understand that dining out is about more than just sustenance; it is about experience, discovery, and comfort. Dallul East African Cuisine aims to provide all three in abundance. Our location in the 75240 area makes us easily accessible for residents across North Dallas looking for an exciting alternative to the usual fare.

My family and I evacuated to Dallas from Beaumont for Hurricane Laura. This restaurant was next door to the hotel where we stayed. We are adventurous eaters and decided that we would definitely try it out because of curiosity (we had never had East African food) and convenience since it was next door. Oh my, I am soooooo glad we did!
We ordered the Somosa appetizers and decided on three entrees to get a good mix of tastes and different meat options. We went with the Doro Wot, Yebeg Wot and the Beef Tsahli. Every single morsel of food was amazing. So full of deep flavor and a perfect amount of spice. The injera was soo soft and wonderful and was a perfect “spoon” with which we scooped up the amazing entrees. I can’t say enough about home much we enjoyed our meal! I just wish I lived closer so I could experience the rest of the menu.
Walking in the door instantly made me feel like I was in an episode of No Reservations with the late great Anthony Bourdain. The patio had several gentlemen smoking cigarettes and drinking beer while joyfully talking and eating. Inside I was the only person with English as their first language and I instantly knew I was in the right place for good authentic food.
Can’t recommend this place enough!

Went here with 3 friends for dinner. Food isn't much more than $20 per person, and only after we got extra stuff.
This place seems like authentic African food, and it's refreshingly local. They even taught us the correct way to eat this one dish for the best enjoyment.
The food I ordered was great, a spiced chicken and rice meal. But there is a very rich menu available.
The staff were extremely friendly and happy we were there. Giving a comfortable atmosphere. Only thing we had to do was get attention of the server for the bill. Otherwise it was perfect, and we enjoyed it for hours.
Definitely seeing if I can revisit this place next vacation.

Great food, large portions, and good prices. Be aware that the wait time can be a little slower than other places but it’s worth it!

On the occasion of our son’s wedding, the catering service provided by Dallul Restaurant and its owner, Ms. Tirhas (Titi), for more than 500 guests was outstanding—delicious, flavorful, and, most of all, prepared and served with great care for health.
In this regard, I strongly recommend Dallul as the first choice for honoring one’s guests.

This was my first time having East African food so I was a bit nervous walking in but excited for an adventure! I asked the waiter for advice. They were really friendly and excited to share their favorite food with someone new. They asked me questions about what I liked, and what I’m game to try.
I had a large portion of spicy lamb and small portions of several vegetables. I’m not sure if it directly lined up to a menu item but less than $20 seemed fair, it was all tasty, and I hope to have some more soon!

Honestly It only got 1 star because the coffee was really good and the food and prices/portions were decent. This was probably the worst experience I’ve ever had. The interior was underwhelming and it smelled really bad of smoke, despite “no smoking” signs posted every other foot. somehow it was dead inside but we still got the worst service ever. Our server took forever to take out food order and instead talked to some guy at the bar for 20 minutes. Also, another table twice out size came in, got their order taken, and finnished their food before we could even place out food order. They also ate all their food, payed out, left, and had their table cleaned again (about a 40 minute experience) befor the server ever acknowledged us again. We were very clearly done eating by then and had to walk up to the computers to finally pay out and leave. I don’t know what all the good reviews are for but I’m literally from east Africa and can tell you there’s better food out there and there DEFINITELY is better service literally anywhere else.
